Updating tmobile g1 software
It requires reverting back to RC29 ROM (downgrading back to 1.0), and having ADB and HTC drivers installed on your PC.
The reason for installing RC29 is that this version has a flaw that treats anything you type as if it was typed into the Terminal. If the update you applied failed, you most likely would be at the "android" boot and it would just loop, or you'd have a black screen.
Can't wait til November 11th for T-Mobile to give you the much ballyhooed RC29 update?
I found this tutorial on how authenticate via wifi, but keep in mind, this device is a couple years old now and I don't know if the files needed are still available.
If everything went well, you are now a proud owner of a rooted G1. If the login fails, you might need to add your APN settings (use the Menu button to add a new APN profile).
I will now continue on how to install RC8 on your rooted G1.
Hi, So far I’ve downgraded using the Happy New Year UK zip.
I recommend using the SD card method because this is easier for non-developers.
